From our history Our restaurant is part of town Teplá since 16th century. The stone made bottom of restaurant at the time coaching inn were built in 16th century around 1560. First written report of coaching inn in Teplá is from 1620. Name of town Teplá (warm in english) is derived from little river called Teplá because water is this river is realy warm. This is why west of bohemia was centuries ago area with high vulcanic activity. Restaurant and whole area around Teplá came through many historical periods which had changed itself and whole area aswell. Hills around Tepelá became many times warfield of thirty years war. In 1648 when war ended was Teplá resellted with german settlers. In 1794 was Teplá affected by massive fire 204 houses from 264 built were damaged by fire. After 1800 was restaurant rebuilt and whole town Teplá including surrounding villages and church had its most beautifull period that lasts about 150 years. Years of prosperity ended after second world war when Communist Party won elections it was hard and dark period for whole contry. Restaurant still operates with new name Plzeňka. Since 70‘ until 90‘ Plzeňka dilapidates and finaly was closed. About 13 years later restaurant changed owner Radek Chmela and Jiří Horní bought it and renovated it into nowadays form. Step by step they opened restaurant and after rebuilding upper floor aswell rooms for guests. |
